Rangers and Bruins Offense Tactics







The Boston Bruins lead the series 1-0 in the Eastern Conference Semifinals. Boston Bruins won game 1 in overtime. Both these teams are evenly matched; play with similar tactics and have outstanding outstanding goaltenders. Both team play the body, play conservative, and rely on gaining scoring chances from invert offense.

Tactics: Invert Offense, Cycling and Crossing




Why Use Invert Offense:
  • Forces 2 & 3 players to pick up players behind the goal line
  • Forces the forwards to come down low, opening passing lane to point men
  • The defenders focus their attention below the goal line 



Tactics:
  • Cycle
  • Cross
  • Shoot or pass around boards
  • Move Puck Point



Keys:

  • Arrive quickly on puck
  • Good angling and circular approach skills
  • Good 1 v 1 skills offensive zone
  • Good puck protection skills
  • Picking the puck up and taking it to net




Principles:
  • Be a threat to score
  • The defense is high, move the puck low
  • The defense is low, move the puck high


Rule:

  • Take the puck to the net
  • Move the puck to the net
  • Move puck to point; screen, tip and rebound
